Run entity work, contracts, and retainers on one file.
Corporate work is a handful of engagement types repeated across many clients. Esqase opens each from its own template, starts the agreement from your own wording, and bills the retainer.
Open the engagement, draft it, sign it
A matter template opens a formation or a contract review already set up. Draft the agreement from your own clause language, fill the party details in once, then send it out for signature.
Capture the entity details a standard matter form does not ask for, and keep them on the matter or on the company's contact.
Custom fieldsRequesting eSignatures
Send the agreement out without leaving the file.
Matter templates
Open the right engagement type with its own checklist.
Record the time, bill it, review it
A flat-fee formation and an hourly advisory retainer bill differently, and each matter carries its own method. Record hours as you work, bill them line by line, and have a partner review first.

Engagement types, templates, retainers, approvals, and conflicts.
Can we run different engagement types without separate systems?
Yes. Build a matter template per engagement type, a formation, a contract review, a general counsel retainer, each with its own checklist, stage, and billing method, so the work opens shaped correctly rather than being adapted afterwards.
How much of a contract can we template?
All of the wording. Save the agreement once with placeholders for the parties, the term, and the consideration, then fill each one in on the new draft and every place it appears updates with it, while the template keeps its blanks for next time.
Can we hold a retainer and bill against it?
Yes. A retainer sits in a trust account, separate from operating funds, with a ledger for the client behind the balance. The firm's fee leaves trust as a trust-transfer payment recorded against an invoice, so what the firm takes is always tied to a bill. A recurring schedule can raise that bill on a cadence you set.
Can a partner review a contract before it goes to the client?
Yes, with document approvals. Set which roles have their work reviewed, which roles may review, and how many approvals an item needs. A reviewer's comments land in the document's own comment feed, and the author marks each point done as it is handled.
Can we track entity details the standard matter form does not ask for?
Yes, with custom fields. Add formation state, EIN, registered agent, or whatever your corporate work tracks. Put a field on a matter or a contact when you need it, or name it on a matter template so every engagement of that type opens with it.
Can we screen counterparties before taking an engagement?
Yes. A conflict check screens the name you enter against the records your firm already holds, leads and matters included, and brings back each match with its record attached. A high-priority match has to be acknowledged before the matter saves. The check is advisory, so the judgment stays with the lawyer reading it.
