Put every date where someone will actually see it.
A missed deadline is not an admin slip. Esqase puts every task, hearing, and filing date you set on one calendar, assigns it to a person, and opens the same checklist on every matter of that type.
One checklist, applied every time
Type the checklist once, not on every matter. A task list carries the priorities, the assignees, and dates counted from the matter's open date, and a matter template applies it at creation.
Write the sequence down once instead of remembering it. A saved workflow drops its whole checklist onto a new matter, already listed and assigned.
WorkflowsTasks
A due date, an owner, and a status on every one.
Matter templates
Attach the checklist to the practice area it covers.
See what is due, and prove what was done
Every task with a due date shows on the firm calendar and on the task board, and the dashboard lists what is due soon with overdue in red. The activity log records who finished it and when.

Checklists, calendars, notifications, and proving a date was met.
Can a deadline checklist repeat for every matter of a type?
Yes. Build a task list template with due dates set relative to when the matter opens, for instance 30 days out, and attach it to a matter template. Every new matter created from that template opens with the same checklist and dates already on it.
Does Esqase calculate statute of limitations dates for me?
No. Esqase does not work a legal deadline out from a jurisdiction's rules. You set the statute date on the matter yourself and add reminders at the lead times you choose, six months out and seven days out for instance, and one notification goes out as each is reached.
Can I see every deadline across the firm in one place?
Yes. The Tasks page lists every task across every matter, with search and filters for status, priority, and member, and it sorts by due date. Turn on the calendar's Tasks overlay and the same tasks appear on their due dates beside your firm's events. Task boards give a third view, organized by stage.
How does the firm see a deadline coming?
A task with a due date shows on the task board and on the calendar's Tasks overlay on that date, and the dashboard lists what is due soon with anything overdue in red. Esqase notifies the assignee when a task is assigned, but it sends no reminder for a task's own due date. Reminders come from calendar events, at the lead time set on the event, and from a matter's statute date.
Can a task be created automatically when a matter opens?
Two ways. A matter template clones a task list onto the matter as it is created, so real tasks arrive with real dates. A workflow set to attach on creation copies its steps onto the record, and with its Automation switch on Esqase works down them, creating each task as its step comes due. Steps you set to Manual still wait for a person.
Is there a record proving a deadline task was completed, and when?
The activity log and audit trail record changes to a matter and its tasks, including who completed one and when, which is the record you want on hand if a date is ever questioned later.
